The story of Hades and Persephone is a love story that feeds a lot of the natural world according to Greek Mythology. Hades abducted Persephone, who is associated with the growth of spring and the beginning of harvest. After her abduction Hades used deceit convincing Persephone to consume a handful of a pomegranate grown in the underworld. This act tied her to the underworld for half the year. When persephone returns to the world spring is born, when she makes her return the world changes to the harsh unloving winter months.
